The bounce back 2020 (Jan 2020)
January 2020 is the test for what will happen in the London property market. With some clarity now post election, the threat of a recession has disappeared and there is a general optimism in the market place. The last four years of uncertainty had frozen the decision for many people but now they are starting to make decisions. The pent-up demand that has built up is likely to now be released. There will however undoubtedly always be sellers that want to hang on for the spring market, one that is deemed historically by many to be more positive whatever the political climate.
Whilst London has been the most significantly affected by Brexit initially bearing the brunt it will undoubtedly also be the first to bounce back in the coming months. Most experts agree that 2020 will see a slow rise of about 1% in 2020 with JLL predicting a 2.5 per cent next year, before it jumps to 4.5 per cent in 2022.
